Life of Lotus. CSM Awakening Catwalk Project  2013          

Materials :  Lotus roots, bamboo, wool.           莲藕，竹子，毛线

My idea is based on the life circle of lotus.  The lotus grows seeds in summer and withers in winter. However the lotus roots, which hide deeply under the lake soil prolongs lotus’s life. People dig the roots out by hands. They cherish the lotus root as it is the ‘gift of nature’. They transform the gift into food and also paint it as a symbol of strong lives.

I demonstrate the life circle idea by creating the gradual change in the colour of lotus roots—they are baked in to white, brown, and black colour.
